Preface

Through the kindness of God it is a joy and privilege to publish a further book in the ‘Glory’ series. This, the eleventh in the series, brings an important added contribution to the range of material presented in the previous books. The widespread and continued interest in these publications is a source of encouragement to us at ‘Assembly Testimony’1. Indications of appreciation and confirmations of the blessing and help received have come with much thankfulness to the Lord. This includes the ongoing translation work undertaken in fellowship with our missionary brethren in other lands. We are deeply thankful for all of Divine help and support which have facilitated this continuing endeavour.

As often mentioned in the pages of this book there is a particular appeal about last words. Most will treasure with affection the last words of those they love. This is particularly true as we reflect upon the last words of the Saviour, our Lord Jesus Christ. It is entirely appropriate that a large section of this book be devoted to His concluding words ere He went to the cross and before He left this world as He was caught up in glory. His words must be considered along with those of other prominent figures from Scripture and together they combine to give a rich blend of doctrinal, devotional and practical truth.

It is both fitting and important that the unselfish and diligent labour of our authors be acknowledged with much gratitude. Before the various chapters appear in print, long hours of preparation have been spent in privacy waiting upon the Lord. It would be remiss not to acknowledge the support and sacrifice of wives and families as well. For all of this we are deeply thankful knowing that “God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward His name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister” Heb. 6.10.

As with previous publications this one would not be possible without the wholehearted work and contribution of our team of devoted proof readers, in particular Victoria McCaughey and Ruth Nesbitt. This work requires a range of specialised skills and commitment totally indispensable in the publication of books such as these.

Each chapter reflects the individual approach of the author. Given the variety of authors it is almost certain that there will be individual viewpoints and interpretations. It is therefore important that readers test everything that is written in this book, and the others in this series, against the unerring Scriptures of truth.

Again we convey our appreciation to all who support this work regardless of how it is given. It allows these books to be published and distributed free of charge. In all of this all the glory should be ascribed to our God.

It is our earnest prayer and exercise that this latest book will be Christ honouring and edifying to all who are His.
