The list below gives verses from Messianic Psalms (in the order in which they appear in the Book of Psalms) alongside their corresponding quotations in the New Testament. There is not an exact correspondence between this list and the Psalms covered in this book. This illustrates the fact that there is no definitive ‘rule’ as to what constitutes a Messianic Psalm.

If we include Psalms 24 and 72 (one only has to read these Psalms to see that it is impossible not to consider them as Messianic) we have, as a minimum, sixteen or seventeen Messianic Psalms. Others, including Psalms 31, 35, 42 and 89, are also worthy of consideration as Messianic.
